Enjoy a free museum visit
To give up part of a perfect-weather gift of a Saturday in late September, you’d have to be tempted by something pretty special.
That’s what Smithsonian magazine and museums around the country are offering today as part of an effort to expose more people to the educational, cultural and entertaining aspects of their local institutions.
The annual Museum Day Live! event allows visitors to download two free tickets (limited to a single address) to more than 1,500 participating museums across the country, including many in our area.
Simply go to www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/museum-day-live-2017 and follow the instructions. The site not only provides the tickets, but a list of participating museums broken down by state, ZIP code or the museum name/key word.
Among the local museums participating are miSci in Schenectady, The Empire State Aerosciences Museum in Glenville, The Albany Institute of History & Art and the USS Slater in Albany, The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls, the National Museum of Racing in Saratoga Springs and Fort William Henry in Lake George. Visit the Smithsonian magazine website for other participating museums.
This is a free opportunity to gain exposure to the many cultural and artistic offerings that make our region an amazing place to live.
Don’t let this chance pass you by.
